Title XII PUBLIC HEALTH AND WELFARE Chapter 194 • Effective - 28 Aug 2008 194.275. Purchase or sale of body parts for valuable consideration prohibited — penalty — definition. — 1. Except as otherwise provided in subsection 2 of this section, a person that for valuable consideration knowingly purchases or sells a part for any purpose if removal of the whole body or a part from an individual is intended to occur after the individual's death commits a felony and upon pleading or being found guilty is subject to a fine not exceeding fifty thousand dollars or imprisonment not exceeding seven years, or both. 2. For purposes of this section, the term 'valuable consideration' does not include the reasonable payments associated with the removal, transportation, implantation, processing, preservation, quality control, and storage of any part or a whole body. ­­-------- (L. 2008 S.B. 1139)
