Where detention to take place. — Notwithstanding any other provision of the law to the contrary, whenever a court orders a person detained for involuntary treatment in a mental health program operated by the department, the order of detention shall be to the custody of the director of the department, who shall determine where detention and involuntary treatment shall take place in the least restrictive environment, be it an inpatient or outpatient setting. -------- (L. 1980 H.B. 1724, A.L. 1996 S.B. 884 & 841)
