Title XXIV BUSINESS AND FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS Chapter 377 • Effective - 28 Aug 1939 377.180. Not applicable to fraternal societies. — Nothing in sections 377.010 to 377.190 shall be so construed as to impair or in any manner to interfere with any of the rights or privileges of any corporation, association or organization doing a life or casualty insurance business in this state under the laws as they now exist; nor as applicable to organizations which conduct their business as fraternal societies on the lodge system, and limit their certificate holders to a particular order or fraternity, or to fraternal beneficiary societies which provide for the relief and benefit of its members or the families, widows, orphans or other kindred dependents of deceased members, or assist such as may be sick or disabled, from the proceeds of assessments upon members of such society or association, and, to that end, issue to its members beneficial certificates, payable at such time and in such manner as shall be therein provided. ­­-------- (RSMo 1939 § 5868) Prior revisions: 1929 § 5757; 1919 § 6167; 1909 § 6962
