5-5-229. State-tribal relations committee. (1) There is a state-tribal relations committee. Except as provided in subsection (2), the committee is treated as an interim committee for the purposes of 5-5-211 through 5-5-214. The committee shall: (a) act as a liaison with tribal governments; (b) encourage state-tribal and local government-tribal cooperation; (c) conduct interim studies as assigned pursuant to 5-5-217; and (d) provide recommendations and a report, if one is written, in accordance with 5-5-216 for studies completed by the committee. (2) The composition of the state-tribal relations committee must be as follows: (a) six members of the house, three from the majority party and three from the minority party; and (b) four members of the senate, two from the majority party and two from the minority party.
