7-3-1216. Term of office of commission members. (1) Except as provided in subsection (2), the term of office of members of the commission must be 4 years and must commence on the first Monday in January following their election. (2) The terms of office of the members first elected must commence on the first day of the third month following their election, and the terms of office of a majority of the members first elected, to be determined by lot, expire when their successors are elected and qualified in the first year following their election, and the terms of the remaining members first elected expire when their successors are elected and qualified in the third year following their election.
