City council; investigations; attendance and examination of witnesses; power to compel; oaths.The city council of a city of the metropolitan class, or any committee of the members of the city council, shall have the power to compel the attendance of witnesses for the investigation of matters that may come before them. The presiding officer of the city council or the chairperson of such committee may administer the requisite oaths, and the city council or committee shall have the same authority to compel the giving of testimony as is conferred on courts of justice.Source Laws 1921, c. 116, art.
