1. The obligation of a parent other than that under the laws providing for the support of poor relatives is discharged by complying with a court order for support or with the terms of a judicially approved settlement. 2. The legal adoption of the child into another family discharges the obligation of the child’s natural parents for the period subsequent to the adoption.
