1. In addition to any other registration that is required pursuant to NRS 179D.010 to 179D.550, inclusive, each offender or sex offender who, on or after October 1, 2007, is or has been convicted of a crime against a child or a sexual offense shall register initially with the appropriate local law enforcement agency of the jurisdiction in which the offender or sex offender was convicted pursuant to the provisions of this section. 2. An offender or sex offender shall initially register with a local law enforcement agency as required pursuant to subsection 1: (a) If the offender or sex offender is sentenced to a term of imprisonment for the crime, before being released from incarceration or confinement for the crime; and (b) If the offender or sex offender is not sentenced to a term of imprisonment for the crime, not later than 3 business days after the date on which the offender or sex offender was sentenced for the crime.
