1. Except as otherwise provided in subsection 2, the Department shall operate any vending machine that is located in a visitors’ area of a facility or an institution of the Department. 2. The Department may enter into a contract with a private vendor to operate a vending machine located in a visitors’ area of a facility or an institution of the Department. 3. If the Department operates a vending machine pursuant to subsection 1 or enters into a contract with a private vendor to operate a vending machine pursuant to subsection 2, the money received by the Department from the operation of the vending machine, less any money expended for overhead and operating expenses, must be deposited in the Offenders’ Store Fund created pursuant to NRS 209.221. 4. As used in this section, 'vending machine' means any manual or coin-operated machine or similar device for vending food, beverages or other articles. (Added to NRS by 1999, 2574)
