Any offender participating in work or educational release programs or in any other classification assignment under the provisions of this chapter, other than parole: 1. Continues to be in the legal custody of the Director during the offender’s absence from an institution. 2. Is considered within the confines of the institution for these purposes, and is subject to all provisions of law pertaining to his or her confinement, regardless of the location of his or her assignment.
