Except as otherwise provided in subsection 2, the chief, an assistant or other employee of the department shall not disclose such information. 2. The chief, an assistant or other employee of the department shall disclose information obtained in the discharge of his or her duties to the court or the district attorney upon request, or to any other person as ordered by the court or as provided by law.
