Statute 218e 085

1. A witness is absolutely privileged to publish defamatory matter as part of a hearing or proceeding before a House or committee in which the witness is testifying or in communications to a Legislator preliminary to that hearing or proceeding, if the matter has some relation to the hearing or proceeding. 2. A person who knowingly misrepresents any fact when testifying in a hearing or proceeding before a House or committee or in communications to a Legislator preliminary to that hearing or proceeding is guilty of a misdemeanor.
