1. The board in any county whose population is 700,000 or more, shall, by ordinance, create a taxing district to establish a system to provide a telephone number to be used in an emergency if the question for the funding of the system has been approved by the voters of that county. 2. The boundary of the district: (a) Must be defined in the ordinance; (b) May not include any part of an incorporated city unless the governing body of the city petitions the board for inclusion in the district; and (c) May include only the area served by the system. 3. The board may delegate the operation of the system to a metropolitan police department, if one has been established in the county. (Added to NRS by 1985, 953; A 1989, 1906; 2011, 1125)
