If a court of competent jurisdiction orders a city to extend the deadline for voting beyond the statutory period in an election, the city clerk shall, as soon as practicable after receiving notice of the decision of the court: (a) Cause notice of the extended period to be published in a newspaper of general circulation in the city or if no newspaper is of general circulation in that city, in a newspaper of general circulation in the nearest city; and (b) Transmit a notice of the extended deadline to each registered voter who received a mail ballot for the election and has not returned the mail ballot before the date on which the notice will be transmitted. 2. The notice required pursuant to paragraph (a) of subsection 1 must be published: (a) In a city whose population is 25,000 or more, on at least 3 successive days. (b) In a city whose population is less than 25,000, at least twice in successive issues of the newspaper. (Added to NRS by 1997, 3440; A 2021, 1253)
