An applicant is required to secure, from the Museum Director, or an agent designated by the Museum Director, a permit described in NRS 381.197 for the investigation, exploration or excavation of any state or federal lands within the boundaries of the State of Nevada. 2. If the land to be investigated, explored or excavated is owned or held by the United States, the applicant is also required to secure a permit from the proper authorities in accordance with the provisions of 16 U.S.C. §§ 431 to 433, inclusive.
