1. Before making final payment on any contract as provided in this chapter the Director shall cause the publication of a notice of the date of final acceptance of the contract for a period of at least 2 weeks in every issue of a newspaper of general circulation in the county wherein the major portion of the contract work was performed, and such notice may also be published each day for a period of at least 10 days in one or more daily newspapers of general circulation throughout the State. 2. No final settlement of the contract may be made with the contractor until 30 days after the date of such final acceptance of the contract.
