The State Registrar shall: 1. Arrange and permanently preserve the certificates in a systematic manner. 2. Prepare and maintain a comprehensive and continuous index of all births and deaths registered. The index must show the name of the child or the deceased, the place and date of birth or death and the number of the certificate. When a certificate of birth indicates that a person has changed his or her name, the index must contain an entry for each name. 3. Make a complete and accurate copy of each vital statistic, including, without limitation, using typewritten, photographic, electronic or other means of reproduction approved by the Board. Such a copy, when verified and approved by the State Registrar, shall be deemed to be the original record, and the original record may be disposed of in accordance with the regulations adopted by the Board.
