The registration of a mark is effective for 5 years from the date of registration and, upon application filed within 6 months before the expiration of that period, on a form to be furnished by the Secretary of State, the registration may be renewed for a successive period of 5 years. A renewal fee of $50, payable to the Secretary of State, must accompany the application for renewal of the registration. 2. The registration of a mark may be renewed for additional successive 5-year periods if the requirements of subsection 1 are satisfied. 3. The Secretary of State shall give notice to each registrant when his or her registration is about to expire.
