1. The Board shall adopt regulations requiring participation in a program of continuing education as a prerequisite for the renewal of a registration as an environmental health specialist. 2. The Board may exempt an environmental health specialist from the requirements for continuing education if he or she is able to show good cause why the requirements could not be met. 3. An environmental health specialist who submits evidence satisfactory to the Board that he or she has retired and is no longer engaged in the practice of environmental health is exempt from the requirements for continuing education established pursuant to this section.
