Any time after a petition is filed and before the final disposition of a case, if doubt arises as to the competence of a child, the juvenile court shall suspend the case until the question of competence is determined. 2. During the period when the competence of a child is being determined, the juvenile court shall consider the appropriate placement of the child and any services or other care to be provided to the child that are necessary for the well-being of the child or for public safety, and may issue any necessary orders. 3. The period in which the juvenile court is required to make its final disposition of a case, as set forth in NRS 62D.310, is tolled during the period when the competence of a child is being determined.
