The Legislature finds and declares that: 1. The practice of the profession of pharmacy is directly related to the public health and welfare of the citizens of this State and is subject to regulation and control in the public interest. 2. Because of the continuous introduction of new medicinal agents and the changing concepts of the practice of pharmacy, it is essential that a pharmacist undertake a program of continuing education to maintain and improve his or her professional competency. 3. To ensure the continued competency of the pharmacist and to maintain uniform qualifications for the licensing of pharmacists to protect the health and welfare of its citizens, the Legislature deems it in the public interest to adopt a program of continuing professional education. 4. NRS 639.2171 to 639.2176, inclusive, must be liberally construed to carry out their stated purposes. (Added to NRS by 1973, 976; A 1985, 882; 1995, 291)
