1. 'Practice of applied behavior analysis' means the design, implementation and evaluation of instructional and environmental modifications to produce socially significant improvement in human behavior, including, without limitation: (a) The empirical identification of functional relations between environment and behavior; (b) The use of contextual factors, motivating operations, antecedent stimuli, positive reinforcement and other procedures to help a person develop new behaviors, increase or decrease existing behaviors and engage in certain behavior under specific environmental conditions; and (c) The use of interventions based on scientific research and the direct and indirect observation and measurement of relations between environment and behavior. 2. The term does not include diagnosis, psychological testing, psychotherapy, cognitive therapy, psychoanalysis or counseling.
