The owner of a motor vehicle or the authorized agent of the owner who makes a claim under a policy of insurance for damages to the motor vehicle may give his or her consent for: 1. If the insurer provides notice to the owner or the authorized agent of the owner that the motor vehicle is a total loss vehicle as that term is defined in NRS 487.790, the motor vehicle to be towed and placed in storage at the direction and expense of the insurer; or 2. If the insurer provides notice to the owner or the authorized agent of the owner that the motor vehicle is a repairable vehicle, the motor vehicle to be towed to a repair shop designated by the owner or the authorized agent of the owner.
