35-A:42 Collective Municipal Economic Development Projects; Agreements. – I. Any number of towns or cities may join collectively to exercise any rights available to a governmental unit under the provisions of this chapter, provided that such collective effort is limited to the raising of funds for economic development projects. For the purposes of this section 'economic development projects' means existing or proposed projects designed in part to create, retain, or improve jobs within one or more of the towns or cities which collectively exercise any rights of a governmental unit under this chapter. II. Once any number of towns or cities join together for the purposes described in paragraph I, such combination shall be known as a multi-governmental unit. Any multi-governmental unit may enter into such written agreements as the respective governing bodies of the various towns and cities involved shall approve concerning valuation and distribution of the benefits intended by the economic development project.
