554:28 License to Foreign Executor, Etc. – Whenever an executor, administrator, trustee or guardian, duly appointed and acting as such in another state or country, represents a person who owned or is entitled to personal property in this state, he may make petition to the probate court in the county where the property is situated, or, if it is stock in a corporation, to the court in the county where the corporation has its principal place of business, for license to sell, transfer or receive and dispose of the same, and the judge, after such notice as he shall order, if no sufficient objection appears, shall license him to sell, transfer and convey, or to receive and dispose of, such property and shares in the same manner as he might do if appointed under the laws of this state.
