151:37 Definitions. – In this subdivision: I. 'Commissioner' means the commissioner of the department of health and human services. II. 'Department' means the department of health and human services. III. 'Serious disability' means a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more of the major life activities of an individual or a loss of bodily function, if the impairment or loss lasts more than 7 days or is still present at the time of discharge from an inpatient health care facility, or loss of a body part. IV. 'Surgery' means the treatment of disease, injury, or deformity by manual or operative methods. Surgery includes endoscopies and other invasive procedures. Source. 2009, 287:2, eff. Jan. 1, 2010.
