270-E:14 Temporary Registration. – A person desiring to register a vessel shall apply for registration and pay the required boat fee and registration fee to the department or an agent of the department. Upon receipt of such application and fees, the department or agent of the department shall issue to the purchaser a receipt for such payment and a decal. The decal issued shall be attached to the vessel. The decal shall be evidence that application has been made for registration, and such vessel or motor may be operated for a period of not more than 30 consecutive days thereafter. Permanent numbers, when received, shall be attached immediately by the applicant. Source. 1990, 229:1, eff. Jan. 1, 1991.
