420-O:2 Definitions. – In this chapter: I. 'Commissioner' means the insurance commissioner. II. 'Plan document' means evidence of coverage furnished to a student that sets forth all benefits and terms and conditions, with regard to a student health plan. III. 'Qualified actuary' means an actuary who is a member in good standing of the American Academy of Actuaries or Society of Actuaries, with experience in establishing rates for self-insured trusts providing health benefits or other similar experience. IV. 'Institution of higher education' or 'institution' means an educational institution in New Hampshire that: (a) Admits as regular students only persons having a certificate of graduation from a school providing secondary education, or the recognized equivalent of such a certificate, or persons who have completed a secondary school education in a home school setting that is treated as a home school or private school under the laws of this state; (b) Is legally authorized within New Hampshire to provide a program of education beyond secondary education; (c) Provides an educational program for which the institution awards a bachelor's degree, graduate degree, or professional

V. 'Student' means a person enrolled in a degree program in an institution of higher education and may include a postdoctoral fellow. VI. 'Student health plan' or 'plan' means any self-funded plan established or maintained by an institution of higher education for the purpose of providing medical, surgical, or hospital services to a student, the student's spouse or domestic partner, the student's child or children, or other persons chiefly dependent upon the student for support and maintenance.
