13:1E-99.149 Restriction on polystyrene loose fill packaging. 15. a. Beginning two years after the effective date of this act, no person shall sell or offer for sale in the State any polystyrene loose fill packaging. b. As used in this section: 'Polystyrene foam' means blown polystyrene and expanded and extruded foams that are thermoplastic petrochemical materials utilizing a styrene monomer and processed by a number of techniques, including, but not limited to, fusion of polymer spheres (expandable bead polystyrene), injection molding, foam molding, and extrusion-blow molding (extruded foam polystyrene). 'Polystyrene loose fill packaging,' commonly known as packing peanuts, means a void-filling packaging product made of polystyrene foam that is used as a packaging fill. L.2021, c.391, s.15.
