§ 18a-12-6

18A:12-6. Boards; number of members The board shall consist of 5 or 7 members as provided by ordinance of the municipal governing body, except that it shall consist of 9 members in districts in cities of the first class, and in districts in which it has been so determined by referendum held pursuant to law.
