26:3A2-19. Annual budget; certification by board of chosen freeholders; apportionment to municipalities; assessment, levy and collection of tax The county health officer shall prepare, subject to the advice of the county board of health, in each year, a budget setting forth in detail the amounts of money necessary for the operation of the county health department during the ensuing year and present that budget to the board of chosen freeholders. Such sum as approved by the board of chosen freeholders shall be certified by the board of chosen freeholders to the county board of taxation which shall apportion such amount among the municipalities participating in the county health department in accordance with the provision of R.S. 54:4-49. The amount thus apportioned to each municipality shall be assessed, levied and collected in the same manner and at the same time as other county taxes are assessed, levied and collected therein.
