39:4-121.3. Installation, alteration, maintenance of traffic control devices Upon approval by the Department of Transportation of a request by a county or municipality for the installation, alteration or maintenance of a traffic control device on a county or municipal street or highway, the county or municipality may, and is authorized to, enter into an agreement with the Commissioner of Transportation for the Department to perform the work or contract for the installation, alteration or maintenance at the expense of the county or municipality.
