43:13-22.49i. Repeal of ordinance; receipt of refund of contributions; membership in PERS and purchase of prior service credits Upon the repeal of the ordinance by the governing body of the city, any elected official of the city who receives a refund of his contributions to the retirement system may become a member of the Public Employees' Retirement System pursuant to section 75 of P.L.1954, c. 84 (C. 43:15A-75) and may purchase credit for previous service as an elected official of the city pursuant to the provisions of subsection b. of section 8 of P.L.1954, c. 84 (C. 43:15A-8b.).
