44:1-92. Length of stay of poor persons in institutions A poor person or child who is committed or removed to an almshouse or welfare-house by an overseer shall be received by the supervisor or superintendent, and be supported and relieved therein until in the case of a person not a minor it shall appear that the person is no longer a poor person within the meaning of this chapter, when in the discretion of the supervisor or superintendent the person so removed may be discharged, and immediately thereafter a written notice of such removal or discharge shall be sent to the overseer or superintendent on whose order the person was received into the almshouse or welfare-house, stating the reason for such removal or discharge and the name of the person, society or board, if any, into whose care or custody the person has been discharged.
