51:1-8. Pound; avoirdupois; troy The standard avoirdupois pound, which shall be the standard for all commodities usually sold by weight, except gold, silver, jewels and drugs, shall contain seven thousand grains troy. The standard pound used in the sale of gold, silver, jewels and drugs, shall contain five thousand seven hundred and sixty grains troy.
