Section 12-5-9 - American Indian day

The first Friday of February of each year shall be set apart and be known as 'American Indian day', in recognition of the many contributions of the American Indians to the economic and cultural heritage of all the citizens of the United States. This day shall be observed by the people of New Mexico in such efforts and undertakings as shall be in harmony with the general character of the day so established. ANNOTATIONSThe 2005 amendment, effective June 17, 2005, changed the day set apart as American Indian Day from the first Tuesday to the first Friday of February of each year.
