§ 2-8f-1

This act [2-8F-1 to 2-8F-49 NMSA 1978] may be cited as the '2021 Senate Redistricting Act'.History: Laws 2021 (2nd S.S.), ch. 7, § 1. ANNOTATIONSEffective dates. — Laws 2021 (2nd S.S.), ch. 7 contained no effective date provision, but, pursuant to N.M. Const., art. IV, § 23, was effective March 17, 2022, 90 days after adjournment of the legislature. Legislature must construct voting districts based on actual population. — The state legislature must employ a good-faith effort to construct legislative voting districts on the basis of actual population. Sanchez v. King, 550 F. Supp. 13 (D.N.M.), aff'd, 459 U.S. 801, 103 S. Ct. 32, 74 L. Ed. 2d 46 (1982).
