A. The New Mexico law enforcement academy is hereby empowered to approve a basic law enforcement training program for New Mexico mounted patrol members. The academy is authorized to promulgate the necessary rules and regulations setting program standards and record keeping requirements. B. New Mexico mounted patrol members who began active service prior to July 1, 1983 are exempted from the basic law enforcement training requirements set forth in Subsection A of this section.
