Counties, by their county commissioners, are authorized to make agreements with state or county agencies or other agencies for the care of sick and indigent persons. The 2021 amendment, effective June 18, 2018, provided that the care of sick and indigent persons provided by counties, under agreements with state or county agencies, shall be provided to all non-citizens regardless of immigration status; and after 'sick and indigent persons', added 'Such care shall be provided to all non-citizens, regardless of immigration status, if the meet all other qualifying criteria for such care.'
