As used in the Adult Adoption Act: A. 'adoptee' means any adult who is the subject of an adoption petition; B. 'adult' means any individual who is eighteen years of age or older; C. 'court' means the district court; D. 'parent' means the biological or adoptive parent; E. 'person' means an individual; F. 'petitioner' means any person who signs a petition to adopt under the Adult Adoption Act; and G. 'resident' means a person who, immediately prior to filing an adoption petition, has lived in the state for at least six months or a person who has become domiciled in the state by establishing legal residence with the intention of maintaining the residence indefinitely.
