No person except a licensed professional engineer shall be eligible to hold any responsible office or position for the state or any political subdivision of the state that includes the performance or responsible charge of engineering work. The 1993 amendment, effective July 1, 1993, added 'Engineering' at the beginning of the catchline, deleted 'or professional surveyor, whichever is applicable' following 'professional engineer', substituted 'that includes' for 'which requires', and deleted 'or surveying work' at the end of the section.
