Section 66-10-4 - Qualifications of driver education instructors

Every person in order to qualify as an instructor for a driver education school shall meet the following requirements: A. possess qualifications as prescribed by the bureau; B. be physically able to operate safely a motor vehicle and to train others in the operation of motor vehicles; C. hold a valid operator's or chauffeur's license; and D. pay to the bureau an annual license fee to be set by regulation of the bureau. ANNOTATIONSThe 2013 amendment, effective June 14, 2013, removed the requirement that a person hold a valid New Mexico operator's or chauffeur's license to qualify to be a driver education instructor; and in Subsection C, after 'valid', deleted 'New Mexico'. The 1993 amendment, effective July 1, 1993, substituted 'education' for 'training' in the section heading and in the introductory paragraph; substituted 'bureau' for 'department of education' and 'state department of education' in Subsections A and D; and substituted 'to be set by regulation of the bureau' for 'of five dollars ($5.00)' at the end of Subsection D.
