Section 66-7-406 - Special load limits

A. Subject to the provisions of Sections 66-7-401 through 66-7-416 NMSA 1978 limiting the length of vehicles and loads, the load upon any vehicle operated alone or the load upon the front vehicle of a combination of vehicles shall not extend more than three feet beyond the foremost part of the vehicle, and the load upon any vehicle operated alone or the load upon the rear vehicle of a combination of vehicles shall not extend more than seven feet beyond the rear of the bed or body of the vehicle. For the purposes of this section, the foremost part of a front-end loading solid waste collection vehicle shall include the front-end loading equipment attached to the vehicle. B. If a vehicle combination consists of a tractor, semitrailer and a trailer, the rear overhang is limited to a maximum of two feet on the trailer and semitrailer and no front overhang.
