The department may institute a proceeding in a court of competent jurisdiction for appointment as personal representative of the estate of a deceased veteran or as conservator of the estate of a minor child of a veteran or as conservator of the estate of an incompetent veteran without cost and tax. History: Laws 2004, ch. 19, § 17. ANNOTATIONSEffective dates. — Laws 2004, ch. 19 contained no effective date provision, but, pursuant to N.M. Const., art. IV, § 23, was effective May 19, 2004, 90 days after adjournment of the legislature.
