For the purposes of this article, the state is hereby divided into twelve economic regions, as follows: 1. Binghamton region. The counties of Broome, Chenango, Delaware and Otsego. 2. Capital district-Champlain region. The counties of Clinton, Essex, Rensselaer, Albany, Saratoga, Schoharie, Schenectady, Warren and Washington. 3. Elmira region. The counties of Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben, Tioga and Tompkins. 4. Mid-Hudson region. The counties of Dutchess, Columbia, Greene, Orange, Putnam, Sullivan and Ulster. 5. Mohawk Valley region. The counties of Fulton, Hamilton, Herkimer, Montgomery and Oneida. 6. Nassau-Suffolk region. The counties of Nassau and Suffolk. 7. New York city region. The counties of Bronx, Kings, New York, Queens and Richmond. 8. Niagara-southwestern region. The counties of Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie and Niagara. 9. Northern region.
