The board of supervisors of a county located within any regional market district heretofore or hereafter created by law may purchase, acquire, or accept by gift lands for regional market purposes. Such lands may be situate anywhere within such regional district. Adequate appropriations may be made for the erection of necessary buildings, improvements, market facilities and equipment. The boards of supervisors of the counties within such district may agree upon the sharing in the cost of such sites, buildings, improvements, market facilities and equipment and the title shall be taken in the name of the county where situate. Such improvements shall be deemed for the benefit of the sharing counties in proportion to their respective contributions. The purchase, improvement or construction of such market facilities by counties within such regional market district is hereby declared to be a lawful county purpose. Such real and personal property may be leased or sold to any market authority or other public corporation, or governmental agency created by law for such regional district.
