Each such typist or stenographer to an official referee appointed pursuant to section one hundred twenty-six of this chapter shall receive an annual salary to be fixed by the official referee appointing him, not to exceed thirty-six hundred dollars. The manner and time of payment of such salary shall be the same as that provided for clerks to justices of the supreme court in each district as set forth in section two hundred seventy-three of this chapter.
