1. Any officer of any force of the organized militia and any officer in the active military service of the United States is hereby authorized to administer the oath required for the enlistment of any person, the oath required for the appointment of any person to commissioned or warrant officer grade and any other oath required by the laws of the United States and by this chapter and by the regulations issued thereunder in connection with the enlistment or appointment of any person in any of such forces. 2. As used in this section the term 'officer' shall mean a commissioned officer, commissioned warrant officer or warrant officer.
