Reference in any general, special or local law, rule, regulation or public document to an existing section, subdivision or other provision of the supplemental pension act, as in force immediately prior to July first, nineteen hundred fifty-six, shall be deemed and construed to refer to the corresponding section, subdivision or other provision of this article as amended by this act, or as amended or supplemented thereafter.
