\nIt shall be the duty of the Department to do the following:\n(1) To provide the necessary management, development of policy and establishment and enforcement of standards for the furtherance of resources, services and programs involving the arts and the historical and cultural aspects of the lives of the citizens of North Carolina.\n(2) To provide and keep a museum or collection of the natural history of the State and to maintain the North Carolina Biological Survey.
